Reflection I love how intentional the faculty and the program is in general. The retreat allowed myself and everyone to create a safe, vulnerable space to open up. I took a point during this retreat to know and remember everyones’ names. Although, I am very bad at remembering names, I challenged myself to create personal relationships with those around me to remember their names. For me, creating a special bond is the remembrance.

I’m also glad the group facilitations varied from large to small. Being an introvert, I open up more in smaller groups. I made it clear that I may not be as communicative to a larger group and this really allowed me to be myself and be more comfortable during the retreat. I understand the importance of the cohort model in that we must become a community of scholars assisting each other along the way. Everyone is going the same process and we must become a strong group to all be successful together. This is a great way to start my graduate program and a wonderful opportunity to build my professional networking.
