The conference brought together student affairs professionals to look to the future of our profession, affirm the solidarity of our mission, and imagine new possibilities for our profession. Reflection
I enjoyed my first NASPA Western Regional Conference for various reasons. Coming from an introverted background, I was able to make meaningful connections with folks from across the regions. I had the opportunity to gain networking experiences, which I thought, would have been the hardest part during the conference for me. The sessions also added to my experience through personal and professional development. I learned some new concepts and ideas that I am able to apply to my graduate assistantship. The results have been positive for me as well as the student leaders I advise. The learning process for me has grown immensely through attended the conference. I am understanding the students and able to adapt to their learning abilities. From that, I can adjust accordingly to be an effective educator.
Overall, I gained a strong base to become an educator to my students in my graduate assistantship as well as make new colleagues that will help me grow throughout the years. I want to be able to rebuild these connections at future conferences and continue learning new ways to adopt into my profession that will allow me to become a scholar practitioner.
